  1. having all these “social networking” sites makes it harder sometimes to meet people face-to-face. i find them daunting, personally. and i don’t share EVERYthing. that’s just dumb, to my mind.

    Magnificent post!

  6. So you want to connect your Mac to a directory service being hosted on a Linux samba PDC? That wouldn’t involve OS X server… that would simply be a process of binding the client through Directory Utility.app

Well, considering that the FBI defined “trolls” as, basically, terrorists — yeah, they really don’t get it. Sounds to me like these guys stumbled onto a giant open directory and downloaded data that AT&T failed to secure, and now the suits and feds are shitting themselves and trying to shift blame. I’m guessing that, if their lawyer manages to actually explain the tech to the judge, they’re going to walk.

Mixed messages simply are to be expected. But you should deal with that. That’s part of critical analysis of trends. But then, I may be more into that kind of research than you. Much more time on my hands as well. :)

You downloaded the .NET Framework 3.5 SDK which is not compatible with Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition.

As I said yesterday in your first post, you really need to upgrade from the 2005 version to either 2008 Express Edition or even better 2010 Express Edition. If you're running a 64 bit version of Win7 then I would definitely go with 2010.

  14. You need an OS X Server with the Macs joined to Open Directory so you can use MCX.

  15. There must be an error with the website server. You, of course, can't upload any files to the server without special privilege to the server. Is the site a result of your google? Some sites are just in the cache space of a searching engine and might have been removed from where it originally was.
